Organising a weekend away in Barcelona

Hi All

As a department at work, we are (ie I am) organising an "end of financial year" celebrations. The boss has given us a budget and having looked on the net, decided on Barcelona.

My question, has anyone been and can you suggest any budget accomodation near the centre for a couple of nights.

I have trawled the net for flights and have sorted these. I presume we won't need a car, do they have a tube or surface transport?

Any help gratefully received, as if it goes pear shaped, you can guess who's fault it will be for suggesting it!

Barcelona has a very good  metro and bus system. You won't want a car if you're staying within the city.
