| Imported post Agree with you Bren it is not like in the UK and Ireland that we are short of terrorism experts and sadly experience - I have lived all my life with this shite so why not make the likes of Sir Ronnie Flannigan - former Chief Constable of the RUC/PSNI or Sir Hugh Ainsley or some of the retired military generals that are about on the lecture circuit or something - the Brits are the best army in the world and everyone knows that so why not use some of the expertise lying around instead of some civil servant who will just write papers on what he thinks should be done but never actually do anything - typical fuckin politics - they're a nepatistic lot. Bunch of ijits would quite happily line up most politicians we have here and drill them - aint worth shite. So Bren agree with you totally Dinger |

| Amen Dinger! God rest him, but this would have been an ideal role for Ian Phoenix, one switched-on cookie.

| Imported post Read his book and my uncle a former DI with him in SB swears by him says he was the greatest they ever had and apparently was a very proud Irishman - not something too common in the RUC SB at the time but no-one ever thougth anything but good things about him - it was a bad loss. Just can't get over politicians - they'er next to useless and the ones that speak out never seem to get reinstated after elections - look at David Irvine - as straight as they come and now marginilised - never understand any of it ever and I grew up in a terrorists land - look at that wee lad who was strapped with dynamite on tv the other day - were are the twats who strapped it to him that is who is guilty and not some poor ijit who doesn't know much better. | Imported post Yes it would Gavin - he was ex-UVF and I didn't always agree with what he said but most that I know liked him because he called a spade a spade and did talk to all sorts - Sinn Fein et al and was very open about things - he was against the trouble alot - my brother works in his area as a social worker and they all swear by him and say he is very good to all the kids and is very pro-cross community work, so yes I used to be sceptical but having met him and spoke to him he talks alot of sense and despite not agreeing with him all the time - indeed most of the time he was very honest and very straight. You know were you stand with a guy like him as opposed to the like of Paisley who talk about Christianity and insight hatred and support the violence. With the likes of Irvine you know were you stand and very few I know from either side of the community dislike him because of his honesty and he is dislike by the UVF at the moment due to who he talks to etc so those are the resaons I like him despite not agreeing with all his politics. | Imported post Bren, I take it this means the Dutch will be (or have been) closing down those areas used by certain illegal organisations as training/rest camps throughout the eighties and early nineties. Like you said, one can imagine the bastards quaking with terror at the news!!!

I agree with the "hypocrite" argument but as Dinger says there no-one in the political sphere of Ulster politics without some uh-hum "baggage"
