What? Someone actually has the job of regulating this stuff?

It's crazy isn't it? One of my roles in food surveillance is undertaking sampling for food standards, including how much meat/fat is in a meat pie - I refuse to do this wherever I can, on account of (1) I think it's a Trading Standards/Consumer Affairs issue and shouldn't be treated as a health matter on the grounds that (2) everyone knows that if you eat meat pies, you will get fat and eventually you will die - what's the point of trying to regulate that? Just don't eat the things and you'll be fine.

Yes! It is crucial that the vinegar goes on first, so that the salt sticks to the chips. As for what to drink with fish and chips, you can't beat a nice cup of tea!
