| Imported post Hi One for all the motorcyclists out there. Sorry to bore the rest of you. Does anyone know how I can get in touch with someone who has a good understanding of Yamaha TZR 250 engines? Mines on the blink at the mo and being an import there's limited amount of understanding out there about them. Don't need garage type assistance, since I'm quite happy to strip thing down myself, just someone who can give me a hand with the problem identification. Drop me a PM or reply on this thread. Thanks in advance Andy

| Imported post Stan Stephens is still 'the man' when it comes to Yam strokers I believe, might be worth giving him a bell. |

| Try the owners club, you should be able to find them on the web. Just out of curiosity, what's the simptoms? I used to be a dab hand with 350LCs, probably before your time? but two strokes are basicaly the same. It is bound to be either fuel, electrics or mechanical, but if you can narrow it down it may be quicker to sort? James (Closet biker and piss head)

| Imported post Stan Stephens Ah, the joys of Google He did a fair bit on me YPVS a good few years back, seriously knows his onions. Eeeh, them were the days. Simpson Bandit, paddock jacket, jeans & trainers. I'm still picking the gravel out of me arse.. Strangely enough it was trying to stay with TZRs through the twisties that caused me the most injuries |

| Imported post Thanks for the offer of help James. Basically the engine seems to be over-oiling, perhaps more on the right hand barrell than the left. When driven gently (2-5K rpm) this not so noticeable, but if you hit the power band you get blue smoke pouring out the exhausts. Quite embarrasing to see a huge blue haze across the road when you look in the mirror giving a handful down the dual-carrigeway! Drive it gently again, and the problem seems to settle down. None of the above seems to affect the actual running of the bike though (so not carbs??) and intermittent nature would indicate against a ring being nipped up or something amiss headwise. So basically, a bit puzzled at the mo! If I had a manual for the thing I'm sure it would make life a lot easier, but the 250's were all imports and according to my local Yamaha dealer you can't even get them through Yamaha Europe in Holland anyone Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance Andy

| Imported post Thanks for info Rob, had a look at the website and shall pay the man a visit should it prove that something needs to be replaced rather than adjusted, or call his premium rate helpline if I find myself completely stuck. The bike is really just a tool to get to work and back a bit more cheaply than British Rail. However, perhaps if I get the cash one day I shall upgrade to nice GSX600R, or other nice 4 pot sport tourer! Ta for the help. Andy

| Hi Bloss As this only happen at high revs it is possible it is happening lower too - you just don't notice the lower volume? It could be the oil injection unit is sticking or the spring/cable is worn and just giving too much oil? Can you adjust it? It could also be that either the barrels are scratched or the rings are knackered and your burning gearbox oil, both would look similar? Do you know what kind of 2 stroke is recomended and are you using it?, as there is a diference between mineral and synthetic? Failing all the above, try letting it run out of oil and mix it with the fuel manualy in the correct mix. If this cures the problem it is almost certainly the injector/cable/spring assembly. If not then it is likely to be the barrels/rings. Hope this sheds some light on things or gives you a direction to go in. James
