| Some of us did proper "S" levels as well as real "A" levels... (1972-3?)! Great thread. Much memories.

| I remeber the Tv«s before remote controls, then there was only one channel to watch anyway. Then the first remote were the size of bricks. A great decade. Still I think the 80's is quite something for fashion - what a laugh now looking back.

| I read a Barbara Vine (Ruth Rendell) book called 'A Fatal Inversion' a few years ago. It was set in 1976 and she really evoked the sense of feeling of that summer.

| On our first Video, you know VCR ( remember those? ) the "buttons" to operate it were actually great big levers that poked out of the front about 30 mm long. I use to watch recordings of Bj & the bear on it, lying in front of the tv & start n stop it using my feet, not cos I could but cos I had too! Now I have a remote control for a DVD player I can barely see , & to operate it I just stab wildly at the buttons til something happens! |

| I remember Clarks shoes with animal paw prints in the heel. Winkle pickers and Cuban heels. Spit the Dog - was that the 80s? Bill and Ben / Torchy the Battery Boy / Fireball XL5 / Thunderbirds. Grammar School - mine was great. Oh, yes, the foot xray machine in my nearest (Clarks?) shoe shop. Just stand on it, look through the viewer and wiggle your toe bones. Mods and rockers. Teddy boys. Sob, nostalgia overload! Calling Dr Who.
