Staplers... random question...

I'm sitting here (after too much coffee), stapling away with a smile on my little face when I began to wonder...

Why are there two different ways that a staple can be ended (inwards or outwards)? Is it a case of personal preference, or is there certain situations where one or other other is required????

Stapled "inwards" is a more permanent fixture. Stapled outwards is more temporary and allows easier removal of the staple and sheets of paper.

Outwards stapling also is more inclined to snag, so only use it if you are into extreme office supplies sports, Ive embedded the outwards ones a few times into my finger, its living life on this razor edge that makes it all worth while

So you're saying that outwards stapling is non-DIR compliant? Hmmm, its not black either although it is shiny metallic...
