    Kids Seats in Black Cabs?

As she who must be obyed insists that we go back to the UK for a few days before Christmas and as we will have to use some public transport can anyone answer me a simple question?

By law do kids (8mth old) have to travel in kids seats in black cabs?

    Thanks

No, they just strap them to the roof

    This might help:-

All of London's Black Cabs are wheelchair accessible and child seats are also available.

    Thanks Guys

Ummgh roof rack....!!! Forgot that one ... bring your own bungy cord I assume

Tried to get a sensible answer out of Dial a Cab about current law as havn't been back to blighty in a while, and not with a sprog in tow....their answer was some what useless

I can confirm that when our drivers are taking child passengers if they require car seats this will have to be provided by the passenger and will not be provided by the driver. Also please note that this is the passengers responsibility and not the drivers.

I hope that I have been able to answer your question....." Der !!!!

My dad was a Taxi driver before they emigrated. Its up to the parent or gardian to supply seats if they wish to use one. Taxis are exempt from it by law.

But imagine if you had to keep every size of child seat in the cab incase anyone required it? There would be no space for any other luggage. Or if they were required to collect them from base, you may never pass base if your going from one pickup to the next. That would also prevent any 'on the spot' pickups which had minors in the party. If you want your children (for your peice of mind) to have then you will have to supply them - you don't have to by law. Simple as.

If your 8mth old is still small enough to travel in the child seat - the sort of thing which sits on top of the push chair, then you could use that.

Scarecrow: Well, I don't know... but some people without brains do an awful lot of talking
