| I have on of these strobes attached to my BCD shoulder. Not had to use it in anger, but seems well made and very bright. No leaks or other trouble in about 150 dives. It's for emergencies only though. Don't be a muppet and think "Ah, a night dive, a chance to use my new toy" and blind everyone on the reef every few seconds. I'd make you no friends HTH Dave

| I have one of these, which is a combination strobe / backup light. Seems OK, never had to use it in anger. http://www.divebooty.co.uk/equipment...ls.asp?pid=609 Several manufacturers sell the exact same item rebadged under their own names; most of them under £20. However, I'm seriously thinking of replacing it with one of these - a mate has one, and it looks great: http://www.divebooty.co.uk/equipment...s.asp?pid=1434

| The VIP light - bright enough to be seen from miles away at night but not dazzling, so can be used on normal dives. Unlike the camera-flash style ones, which are only for emergency use (and very annoying people) If you're worried about being seen during the day, take a CD with you as it's easy to line these up to reflect the sun, which doesn't run out of batteries

Continual flashing for 15 hours then one flash every three seconds till battery dead visible to 3.4KM at night. Easy mounting onto harness or Velcro strap for hand held arm mounted etc. Domed end so can be inserted as a suppository for w@nkers using them on night dives. ATB Mark Chase

The contacts go rusty inside and the functions give up the ghost bit by bit. I had one for a while and when it packed up Apeks replaced it, although only with a used one as they no longer import them. This one has given up the ghost too now despite loving care & attention. ATB
