Urban myth? I'll probably continue to close off if its tied down, cant do any harm can it, but not bother for any other deploy. Cheers.

It's a myth - prove it yourself by inflating the DSMB and then unscrew the bottle. It won't deflate.
There's a 1-way doohickey in the inflate fitting. Stops the DSMB deflating if there's no bottle, and stops water entering the bottle if there is one![]()

When you re harnessed your Tek did you put the new harness through the anti wrap loops?
Matt

matt, what happens when there's nothing to tie off to?Originally Posted by MATTBIN
Seriously I was a little concerned about this, but after asking the same questions of others, I was reassured that water should not get into the cylinder. Plus thinking about it, the cylinder is screwed onto the valve reasonably well (My AClamp version isn't as secure as the Din version, but then thats what I got..)
Wilbo.
I have e-mailed AP Valves to ask them this very question today, as it happens, as I was curious too.
As soon as I hear anything back from them I'll post it here.

What he said. I got this crap from my LDS so I took one to bits. There is a tight nylon sleeve thing around the inflation hole - I believe it is called a "doohickey"Originally Posted by Dominic
. It's tight enough to act as a one-way valve. And on an ally bottle I wouldn't worry too much if it did leak.
The fire-and-forget makes deploying almost effortless - a great piece of kit. For best prices, try Andy Hayhurst at Dales divers. Have yet to find them cheaper - and I am as tight as a tight thing...
