It is the purge button for when you fill it from your main cyinder. Be careful not to have your fingers over the back of it when it is pressureised and you are purging it. Also be sure to purge it when trying to remove the bottle otherwise it will be very tight and not a good idea trying to remove them!

When you've filled it you use it to release the pressure between your cylinder and the mini bottle so that you can undo it i.e.

1) Fill mini cylinder
2) Close mini and main clylinder valves
3) Press spring loaded stud and jump at the popping noise
4) Undo din fitting

attach little bottle to big bottle. Open big bottle valve, open little bottle valve, very slowly. Gas from big bottle goes into little bottle. Little bottle gets warm, or hot if you opened the valve too quick. At this point close big and little bottle valves. You wont be able to detach the little bottle as its all under pressure. Depress spring loaded gizmo, mind your fingers, big bang, jump back frightened. Now undo little bottle attachement.

Its for de-pressurising the connection so you can release it. Bit like depressing dv so you can remove 1st stage.



Nice bit of kit.

Nigel, You forgot about the "relocate dislocated thumb joint" step.

Tis a quality piece of kit though... Just remember to fill the bottle before you dive and try to show it off to your diving buddies :o Not that that ever happened to me of course
