| Crotch Straps Dear all, I find crotch straps to be a bit a of a pain. I don't see any benefit. Everytime I've had one, I've taken it off. I use twin 12's and don't ever foresee using a DPV. What are the benefits of using crotch straps? Thanks, Ian

| You shouldn't even feel it on a dive. Why is it a pain? Maybe its too tight? Its not like a thong you know Andy PS It keeps your gear in place. (Thats Diving gear you understand |

What I'm getting at is this, is there one particular scenario that having a crotch strap would prove beneficial?

The idea of the harness is that it does two roles. In the water it is always slack but nothing can move far so you have nothing constricting air flow round the suit or blood flow round the body while stopping the tanks from swinging about. Out of the water it takes the weight of a twinset and places it on your shoulders and does not dig into your back. The crotch strap stops the slack harness riding up on the surface and converting lift into a forward twist giving 'face down' effect. If the rig doesn't ride up it's probably too tight. I had problems with shutdowns too but I fixed it. |

It's all those sharp studs that you fitted to it, remove them and it'll be ok. Ian
