Cold water spool

Hi

Has anyone tried a cold water spool? (it's got a larger hole presumably for big-gloved fingers, and consequently less line)

Is there any reel advantage to them over a normal spool?

No

the extra "flange" on which to clip the double ender is really not necessary, and unless you like having your finger all the way thorugh the spool (Which I don't in case I need to let go in a hurry), then the larger bore gives no advantage. Tried it, wasn't fussed.
