Question Halcyon Defender Reel

I just received my new Pathfinder reel today, I hadn't seen one in the flesh before and am a little concerned about clipping it off using a double ender. Has anyone lost their reel through this or do you replace it with a fixed clip?

Ian

Never had a problem with mine, it's spools that can come off if clipped the wrong way.

In use, I often use the double ender to clip the blob on, then sometimes I don't

I tied a knot in the end of the loop about 1/2 inch down as it makes it a little easier to grap the line with gloves on, I'v also seen some people thread a bead on to stop the line pulling back through the line guide

Yes, I fitted a bead as soon as I opened the packet, came off the crap real that disintegrated a couple of weeks ago.

Do you mean the Pathfinder reel or the Defender spool?

If you mean the reel a quick tip for you!

You shouldn't have a metal to metal connection on any kit Ian, try fitting a small bungee loop to the reel held on with caveline, then run your double ender through it.

The only problem with bungee loops is that they "give" and bounce, bloody annoying (especially when that bounce is near your family jewels). I tied my loop with thick cord and now it seems so much better.
