P Valves - could someone explain the diff?

Hi,

Probably being thick here but hey what's new ?

Can someone explain (in terms for a muppet) what the diff is between a "balanced" and "un-balanced" P-valve. The pros and cons would good too.

Reason for asking is I need one fitting for something I'm doing later in the year and need to decide which I need / want.

Ta.
Hoppy

One costs more.

I have the simple O3 type and have never had a squeeze problem down to 65m or so. As usual a lot of dive gear fixes problems that don't exist and offers more ways to break.

Balanced;

same deal, but with a valve betwixt knob and outlet. Valve allows air from suit into tube (one way valve).

Apparently, these are really good because they let you spend more money
