Air gun attachment

Have recently seen a great little gadget for photographers etc. It's a 2 inch long air gun that connects to a standard type BCD hose. So you can bungee it onto the hose and swop the hose from the BCD to air gun when required. (Drying housings, filling SMBs etc). Trouble is I saw this on an overseas trip and have no idea where I might get one.

Any suggestions?

If this is what I think it is then these are available from most dive shops. They come in 2 main sorts - the bendy rubber type that you push to one side to use and the more robust button-push stainless steel type.

I have heard that the rubber ones tend to give up pretty quickly after a relatively short period as the needle valve inside bends or breaks. This may make them false economy against the more expensive s/s units if you plan to use it more often than just for the occaisional DSMB inflate.

That said, I use one of the rubber bendy ones and the only problem I have had is when I left my air on after an equipment check and the bendy airgun got bent while on the boat trip out to site - lost about 50 bar or so.

Regards

Mark

Cheers - thanks for the advice. I've just ordered one of the bendy rubber ones from SDS (£13-50 including postage)

That sounds expensive - are you sure you haven't ordered a s/s one? I think my bendy rubber one was about £4-£5 from my LDS.

As ever, as soon as I buy something I find out I've probably paid too much. I always join the supermarket queue that takes the longest as well!

Such is life, I've got what I wanted, so I'll chalk the overpricing down to experience, to be fair I've bought alot of stuff from SDS over the years, and generally got very good deals. The discount I got for a recent Dry Suit buy, compared to the very lowest other quote, is enough to pay for half a dozen of these.

I can do you a well used DSMB and Reel for about £120?

PM me if interested.

Cool Question from a thickie.

This should probably be in the daft question thread elsewhere, but what type of hose would one use with an air nozzle? Also does it connect to the upper or lower part of the first stage?
