stainless 8mm allen key

i bought a new reg and hve gone from an A clamp to a din valve reg, i now need an allen key for my kit bag for when and where i need it, i thought a stainless steel one so it won't rust
an while we're about it where can i get a propper stainless dive multi tool, i bought one which i hoped would be the propper thing, paid a lot for it as i knew stainless would be expensive, not only has it rusted, but the spanner bit's won't fit either of my regs

I use B&Q's DIY lending library for hand tools I don't use that often. Take what you are working on into the hand tools section, get the tool off the shelf, use it (just to make sure it fits... if anyone asks) and put it back afterwards. I had the back end of my scooter in there the other night when some imperial hex bolts scuppered me.

New valves are metric, hence 8mm hex DIN slugs. The regulators I've used (Sherwood, Apeks & Scubapro) are still Imperial though, and it's rare to find a multitool woth both Imperial and metric sizes.

I use an ordinary allen key and spanners. Spray with WD40 and wipe off the excess. Dry the tools after each trip and re-spray. Works for me.

Just get a set of B&Q's cheapest, that way you should have all the sizes and throw them when they do rust, they are dirt cheap. Note, if you ever borrow or hire cylinders, not all use 8mm inserts, so having the set will come in handy. They will also help you get free free drinks when the likes of me trawl the NDC carpark because I've forgotten mine!

For an 8mm stainless allen key, I got a bit of stainless hex bar (from some metal place, no idea where) and just bent it around - might be easier to find than a stainless allen key, but then you'll probably have to buy enough to make 2 or 3 of them.
