Make a note of all your serial numbers tho and keep them in a safe place (something I have yet to do!) Those UV pens tend to come off in water. I marked some cd's and other stuff with one once and it left an opaqueish whiteish mark on them, i later washed it off in water - couldn't say if there's still residue on them tho.

Gets any PM off. Best way is to have a visable mark and then a smaller one in an inaccessable place only you know. Other ways are to play around with your kit. I know a lot of guides that swap fins. Having two colours make it easy to spot you and no question they are yours. Why not change the face of your reg to a coloured one instead of black. Add a colourful slapstrap to you mask. Get your name stuck on your drysuit or if MTM have a colour panel/pocket etc. unique to you. If you mark them because of getting nicked, then the scrote will remove any traces anyway, but giving you a chance on a busy dive site etc. is different. Which is why making it YOUR kit is a good idea. TerryH |

| Thanks everyone, and yes TerryH, there's little point in marking it against theft - it's more for keeping hold of things in a busy environment! Cheers! Pat

| Try leaving your kit out in the backyard one night and have a dirty mongrel Tom-Cat spray all over it. It really soaks in and smells for ages. Serious it happened to me the night before a road trip and I had to put it all in the car and travel with it for 14 hours. Even in plastic bags it stunk. Imagine hot car 40degrees 2 days in bags, I almost got kicked of the dive boat.
