Urgetnt, last minute cutting device needed

HI all

I'm just getting my kit sorted for Scapa and remembered that I had meant to pick up some cutters/shears etc but had forgotten.

Can anyone recommend somewhere I could get some by the end of next week. Preferably with pouch, due to the urgency I'm not to fussed on getting cheap stuff from a first aid place and jerry rigging it, I'd rather just buy something and be done with it.

Also, any reccomendations on where to attach said cutters and a small knife. Current kit is twin 12s on TPII with Recwing, Flexia suit with NAS thigh pocket.

Cheers

Conor

Placement:

I would have one on each side of the body so you should always be able to reach at least one of them.

The snips I had went very well on the shoulder strap of the harness and the knife I would suggest on the wing inflator hose (small knife).

LDS for a cutter/scissors (Beaver come with a pouch) if you must, plus attach scissors to pouch with bungee, attach pouch through lh side of waist webbing. Get a spare set of scissors from Maplins. Dive knife ditto LDS make sure you can reach said knife, corrugated hose is often a good place, again I attach with bugee so if I drop said item I dont lose it, if I have to whilst cutting net etc I can cut bungee if needs be. Having said that when I did Scapa the other week, there was only one time I needed a cutter and it wasnt to cut me free either

I think I'll have to do a quick run around this weekend.

I couldn't see any snips on my LDs' website but I'll try and pop in over the weekend and have a look.

Adrian, are you saying matalan for snips? if so where would they be? We don't have a Matalan in Cambridge (too posh you know ) but I'll be in Bury on Sunday ( )

Hi Connor,

I have shears right side and knife left side on my harness waistband mine are the heavy duty beaver ones [look like pruning shears] if you don't have any luck and are passing junction 26 MI you can borrow mine.

Safe diving,
Steve

Denney Diving do cheapish snips, if you order today you will have them by monday!

As an aside, I did Scapa this year with no cutting device at all I am embarrassed to say. I lost them earlier in the year and keep forgetting to replace them. Unlike the South coast, the wrecks in Scapa are not covered in line. I am not sure I saw any actually!

Cooking section Conor, if the shop is big enough - not all have them,

On line first aid place tend to have a minimum order + postage which can make them pricey.

Adrian

knowing my luck I'd find some You are right I probably don't need any, but having thought of it, it would be just my luck to get snagged. Its also just a general prompt to get all me kit squared away.

SteveS, cheers for the offer, but I should be able to get something this weekend
