UK80D rechargable another dead one

My torch died at the weekend. Im going to send it back as I have changed the o-ring and looked after it best I can. Seems to be a very temperamental unit.

I would just like to know what went wrong. Was it me or the torch.

I will let you know the out come but in the meantime if the service is not what im looking for then im going to be looking for another make of torch. Probably hand held about £250.00. Really looking for one that dont need to be taken apart every time its put on charge.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Jamie

Wasn't a great weekend for our torches was it? I'm also looking into getting another one but at £200 range.

I was eyeing the JMD lanterns:
http://www.jmdtechnologies.co.uk/torches/torch01.htm

This weekend I saw a new Cressi LED torch, quite something but not listed on their site and costs around €400.

Let us know which one you went for in the end.

Chris

Managed to get a secondhand torch from Andy @ Dales Divers. Sent the cheque of yesterday. Kowalski 620 speed

I dont think the torch will be as bright as the dead one but at least I can charge it without having to take it apart everytime.

The o-ring on the UK torch was only replaced recently as it had a slight leak. Well im starting to think now maybe it was / is the switch that is leaking? who knows.

Not managed to send it back yet as I have not had a chance to get to the post office. Probably wont be done till Saturday now

It probably will be blamed on me but just want to know what I could have done to prevent it. Just hate the way that lights are so important but most of the cheap ones seem to have poor designs.

I was comparing the way the o-ring sits on my princton tec to the UK torch and the princton tec seems so much better as the top screws over the o-ring. On the UK it butts up against it. Cant say for sure what better but do know that the princton tec is twice the age of the other was lost on the JEL for two weeks and still worked when I got it back.

If you want a bright torch for £200, Decowarrior had an umbilical Greenforce Impact 100 HID (30W HID) for sale a few days ago.

Cheers

Thank You To Underwater Kinetics

I should really have posted this before now but have had lots on my mind.

Just had my torch returned from the supplier who make the UK8D rechargeable. They have replaced the battery the reflector and bulbs and also the top part that screws on holding the lens as this section was at fault causing the leak. Its good to know that when you buy a product that has a guarantee that the manufacturer actually stands by the guarantee and is polite about it as well. I would defiantly purchase one of their products again and continue to recommend them to others.

Thank you. Please keep up the good work.

Jamie
