Slab of ply or MDF and strap your cylinder to it with those luggage strap jobbies from Halfords or Milletts. Costs about a fiver if you've got a lump of wood hanging around.

I just wedge the tanks between the sides of the boot. But I do normally have five or six tanks on board, so that in itself stops them rolling about. If you have a car with fixing eyes in the boot floor, then strap the tanks to those with luggage straps.

I use a weightbelt. It works for me and I drive like a lunatic.

I got a 'tank carrying frame' at Capernwray a few years ago .... It's not stood the test of time well (bits keep breaking off it), but it is still held together by some sheet steel ... That, along with gear bags, clothing and assorted 'what-nots' has been enough to keep the cyliders secure in the back of most things I've driven.

I feel a GCSE in Craft, Design & Technology coming along !

Little H, guess your right, it depends on what the fixing eyes are themselves attached to :-)

The ones in my car (vectra estate) appear to be fixed to the metal under the boot carpet, so not much of a problem in my case.

Janos, I don't drive like a lunatic, but my wife is insane behind the wheel, so if it survives her, then it should work anywhere :-). I'll never forget the look on the poor salesmans face as she hit 70mph on a twisty backroad on the test drive. He politely said she was 'enthusiastic'. But I bet he had to change his pants after we left. I was at least forewarned, so had the chance to brace myself and clamp my arse cheeks together before she got behind the wheel.

Ooooh mine does :O\ Don't tie it down and it'll be bashing side to side and against the back seat if you accelerate/brake/turn corners. A bit of bungee / webbing strap just to hold it to the side of the boot seems to do the trick. Or if i've got all my kit then just jam it all in together.

Ratchet webbing straps bought at the local market for £1 each. Fasten the tanks to the lugs in the back ot the car (Ford Galaxy).

Yup thats what I do and use the weight pouches from the harness to wedge them as well.Although the Skoda does have a luggage net that works well too.
