The Thistlegorm is a must do and well worth the early start. As I started my descent down the line I was blown away looking at the wreck below me. Wanted to do the Dunraven but didn't get there - just gives me an excuse to go back Dom

| 5mm defo I have been to the Red Sea 4 x times now, Once shorebased and from then on on Liveaboards, I will never Dive with anything less than a 5MM wetsuit, don't forget if you are not a gas guzzler then you will be in the water for at least 50 - 60 mins or more. So if you are in anything less then you will get cold and then you will use more air, if you do get too warm then just pull your neck seal open a bit, you will also need the protection of a full suit if you are doing Wrecks. I have done up to 20 different ones and if you think the Thistlegorm is the best then wait till you see her sister ship the Rosalie Moller, she is now as the Thistlegorm was 15 years ago. A lot of day boats won't go that far but if you find one then get on it. cheers

| I went in February a couple of years back, and found a 5mm ok, but on a liveaboard with repetitive diving did start to chill by the end of the week (in cold terms that is!!!). My partner had a 3mm and he froze his bits off. The chill cheater/fourth element skins are quite helpful for a little etra insulation if your suit is an excessive flusher!!!! |
