| Hi Jumpinjacks,Welcome to YD. I dont think there is any one reg or bcd that could be called the best, you should try and use as many different regs and bcd's as you can and see what suits you best. Most divers are willing to let you have a quick go with there kit, and your instructer may be able to help you out with different types/styles of bcd. hth, John

| Hi there & welcome! We will be a the show ont he Sunday - if you want someone to chat to about kit, or for us to come around a few stalls with you to help you find your feet, then jsut let me know. I am sure we can spare an hour to help - it can be pretty daunting. Lou

| Most divers will tell you that the one they have is the best, as John just said best thing to do is try a variety in the water, don't worry about missing the opportunity to buy at a discount from the dive show as this will be a costly mistake if you buy one that turns out to be uncomfortable in the water. i personally use a Scubapro Glide 1000 but this is by no means the bets in the world but its good for me. try and ask some members of the club( I am assuming it is through a club) if you can have a try of their jacket in the pool most will willingly oblige as we have all been in the position of buying our first jacket.

| Buy what suits your diving and your pocket |

| Don't rush, try things if you can. If you buy 'blind' you may fall lucky, I'm sure I did, but in retrospect, odds are against you. Think about the type of diving you would like to do, then put specific questions on YD where you will at least get informed opinion. Don't buy stuff at the show just because it seems cheap, you may find a few months down the line that it was a false economy. Hope that helps, and don't hold back on questions, there are loads of people here who will help by offering advice, loan, sale and everything in between. YD is probably the best 'purchase' you can make.

| Hiya and welcome! I think that a fair few peeps will be in the bar at the Dive Show on Saturday at 1pm. Blond Inside and me will be wearing our special YD laminated badges home made Blue Peter Stylee if you want to find us propping up the bar drinking shandy. Everyone will have an opinion on equipment as will every stall holder. Have big fun and see you there.

| Jumpinjack, As said above, don't rush. Dive kit costs a fortune, and there is a bewildering choise of shiny kit to spend our hard earned cash on. Getting it wrong is gonna cost! The missus and I have been diving since Jan in borrowed/rented kit. We've both done about 15ish OW dives, in puddles, and warm acn cold seas, and numerous hours in the pool (the benifit of a club pool session). We have built up a pretty good idea of what we like (and don't) and where we want to go. I am glad I ddn't spend much at the start (just bought mask, fins etc), cos i wouldn't have bought the stuff I'm going to now. That said, I do have a BIG list for the show If you are sure you know what you want, then try stuff out, and buy what works for you. If you ain't sure, rent for a while. It'll be cheaper in the long run! ATB Rookie (just re-read... sorry if it seems a bit patronising, it wasn't ment to be ![]() |
