Question Cargo pouch - anyone use one?

Im looking at getting some sort of cargo pouch for my wing since ive lost the use of pockets that my old BC had.

My drysuit already has a bellows style pocket but its not the best - closes very poorly, loses things and so on.

Has anyone used the pouches that Bowstone and others make that slide onto the webbing of a waist harness ? Are these things a practical alternative to a BC pocket or do they tend to get in the way? Anyone recommend a particular brand or model ?

Id want things such as my backup torch, backup tables and so on in it mainly (would still use my suit pocket for other things). Another advantage im thinking of would be i can take it abroad for use with a wetsuit which has no pockets.

Thumbs up Cargo Pocket

I use one M8

I have connected 2 fastex buckles on it, one half is on the pouch and the other is on my waist band, this enables me to put it on when i have finished conecting my waist band & crutch strap on my ccr and also it sits right in front of me on my waist band so i can get to all the EMERGANCY BITS i may require.

I have the Narked @ 60 one with the scissors on it.

Hi String

I use one on my Warm Water hog rig - its sits in place of the umbilical torch battery pack as I tend not to take this on holiday. This allows me to store the items that are usually in my dry suit pocket and wrap my long hose underneath the pouch. To be honest it is not the BEST solution - if diving dry I would stick to drysuit pockets personally.

It works for me in warm water but you need to try it out first - some of the pouches I have tried sit too low on the harness and hang down when diving. It's really horses for courses.

I got my latest one from Woz.

It lives here (NAS Tool Pouch):

and I have just noticed it is also the same one that John uses!

Regards

Roy

I have a cargo pouch which straps onto my thigh.

It has a clip attachment to the waistband, and a strap which clips around the thigh. This stops clutter on the wing, and is also useful when diving abroad in a wetsuit

I use a Custom Diver one, it comes as standard but is separately available

the only problem I've found is that it is fairly small, it generally carries just my spare mask, back-up buddy pocket reel, back-up table, jon line and back-up knife

it just loops onto the webbing, so it can slide along out of the way until you need it and has two zipped pockets

don't know how much they are, sorry, but I do have a spare you could have for a fiver if its big enough for your purposes

Bowstone and NAS are well made and a nice size. The Beaver one is rubbish. The strap that goes round your leg would barely go round my arm so unless you are purchasing it for a famine victim don't bother.

I use the big Bowstone one for my camera.
I try to stow most of mey regular stuff about the person, bellows pockets and the small pocket, but diving largely DIR(ish) there does not seem a good place for the camera unlees I want to hold it.
It's quite large (Oly 5060 + PT20), but I fine the clip-on pocket ideal as I don't need to take it all of the time.

I use one - The beaver one, which I've had to extend the velcro strap - and it's fine for what I need.

Lanyard on the camera and clip off onto the butt D-ring perhaps? Let it float between your legs behind your tanks?

No idea if this would be DIR-approved, just thinking out loud!

Happy to consider this for a blob or lifting bag, but knowing my luck, I'd put the set on it or end up with a load of pics of my butt!.
