Scubapro jet fins or twin jets???

Hi

I received my first drysuit on Friday, and discovered that my fins (scubapro twin speeds) are now too small.
I think I'm going to go for some jet fins but not sure whether to go for the split design or not.
I'm fairly new to diving, but hope to be diving regularly in the UK. I liked the twin speeds, (but they were too long).

Any help appreciated, because I need to buy some new ones by Sunday...

Hey Jo (ooooh, almost Hendrix )

I would suggest the Jetfins as a very good choice. Obviously I'm a bit biased but for control and precision in the water they are spot on. The weight of them means you don't need ankle weights (most people don't NEED them anyway IMO) and with some spring straps they are tough all over with nothing really to break.

Twin speeds and splits are said to be very good in certain ways but they are too big for me.

Anyway hopefully you can get to try some of each and find what works best for you.

Cheers

Don't know about Jetfins - never used them...
But, I had Mares Avantix 3's and I switched to Scubapro Twin Jets, and I totally love them..
I found them much less work than standard fins, the only thing I don't like are the straps, but change them for springs and you're away (like the other guys said.)
Also, apparently the black ones (which are the ones I've got) are stiffer than the grey ones, and the US ones are stiffer still..
I got mine mail order from the US and it was a lot cheaper than getting them here even after paying the shipping - think I paid 110 Dollars plus 35 Dollars carriage, it worked out about 85-90 quid as opposed to £120.00

Splits are good for fluttering along nicely but pants for turning and finning backwards. If you ever pull that off. Personally I love my cheap ND Jetfins and with minimal effort can annoyingly outfin most buddies.

Jo - I had twin jets briefly before swapping them for jetfins.

I went in to my local dive shop to buy Jetfins and was told - nah they are big and heavy and only rubgy players can swim in them - what you need is a nice pair of flexible twin jets.... £100 later...

So that was total rubbish - I now wear Jetfins (surprise surprise) and love them. So pros and cons....

Between the two weight wise - not much you will probably get rid of ankle weights in either.

Ease of finning... if you flutter (scissor) kick you will probably find the jetfins hard going but then you can't frog kick as easily or effectively in split fins.

Back finning etc. as Wox said harder in twin jets (if nigh on impossible).

Best advice of all - try both if you can and see which you get on with the most.

Thanks for all the advice - I'm still undecided which to go for.
The normal jets seem to be the most popular, but as I only tend to flutter kick (not worth trying to do anything else with twin speeds) I don't know if I'll have problems with the jets.

But jets would be the cheaper mistake to make...
