Northern Diver DSMB

Recently saw a DSMB on ebay which can be inflated using the LP hose like the Halcyon ones but at a fraction of the price. Incase they appear again, has any one any experiance of them? They look as though they were made by Northern Diver although they don't appear on the ND site.

Cheers for any help

Neil

I use one as a backup - goes in my pocket pre-rigged to a spool. TBH I haven't tried the LP hose inflation, I just inflate conventionally. Have tried doing oral inflation with the tube, with limited success.

Works fine and is easy to stow. Only niggle is that it seems to let in more water than the Buddy self-sealers (but it takes up half the space).

Can you tell me what the self sealing end is like, I have a cheap Northern Diver normal SMB and the seal consists of flexible metal strips which isn't ideal?

Hi Neil

I have one of the ND ones. The LP inflation makes it an easy 2 handed job to inflate. I think it was £25 from ND, but Mikes Divers Warehouse sells the ND ones as well.

Well worth the money. Also check out the ND flexigloves..... fabulous like wearing a pair of rubber gloves with no restrictions at all. Even at 50m+ they don't seem to compress or become stiff. £15 in 2mm and 5mm

Yep, this has the same metal (lead?) strips at the base - I actually quite like it, as you can bend them so the end stays open as you fill it. The actual sealing 'mechanism' is further up inside the throat.

Thanks gents, just ordered one. If anyone else is interested they can be had from www.divestore247.co.uk although they are not shown on the site. £24 including postage.

Cheers
