Scubapro Armortex Semi-Dry Gloves - oppinion

for example: http://www.aberdeenwatersports.com/s...?stocknum=1269

Scubapro Armortex Semi-Dry Gloves - are these still one of the best cold water gloves on the market?

Looking for a glove that allows both warmth (hour tops at this time of year) and use of fingers for signalling purposes.. Currently use othree 4mm mitts - and they are great - toasty hands. Only problem is signalling - numbers specifically..

These gloves have been recommended to me, as they are semi dry gloves, so should reduce the flush factor. (I am not looking for Drysuit gloves, as I have a new suit with neoprene seals and don't want to have it altered..)

Now I have trawled the archives and found them mentioned.. what I would like to know is are they still tops? Would the people who recommended them previously still back them up? or have they moved on to something else..

I froze on a guildy dive last january, so I went into the shop during the SI and bought new gloves......they were 5mm, shaped, semi dry gloves from, I think, Seacsub.......they were/are outstanding never a cold hand since

I used them for about 1 yr - 18 months. They were great for the first winter, but by the second the neoprene had compressed, seals stretched etc, and I ended up cold again. So I'd say they are great gloves but have a limited lifespan.

I'm now using 3 finger mitts and toying with the idea of drygloves.

I use 5mm scubapro semi-dry gloves all year round, not the armortex ones though...

never had any problems with signals and never had cold hands since. They are a bitch to get off though.

I've very recently tried a pair of those on and tried a pair of Seeman Sub 5mm Titanium Semidry Gloves, must stress not in water, but out the two the Seeman Sub's seemed to offer better flexibilty with the fingers and seemed snugger fit on the wrists. I went for the Seemans in the end.

Hello mate, no, I tried them on last week. Did you get the same Seemans then? What they like in water? Looking for a second pair of gloves so that I've always got a dry pair, you know what I'm like with cold hands! I was only looking at the dry gloves mind, couldn't be arsed with all that hassle!

True enough...if they had self drying 5mm semidry gloves then that would be a winner...cos the worst bit has got to be putting them back on for the second dive......same for hoods.

Did I tell you I was trading in my twinset for some golf clubs?

I got the second hood with my new drysuit! No more putting on cold wet gear. Must be getting old.. All re kitted up now waiting for the clearance to dive again. Even rigged it all up yesterday, just too look at it.. sad I know..

Boiling hot water in hood and gloves before second dive.... always does the trick - careful now

Mind you last winter I took two pairs of gloves and two hoods to eth site to avoid the cold wet bit on the second dive.
