Bryan. Have you got round to using this thing yet ??? Thought perhaps you might have done a equipment report on it. Last I heard you were getting great results around the office, not quite what I had in mind. Have finally purchased one of these and awaiting delivery. Just wondered how it performed Cheers Bob PS. thanks for the links.

| I dive with a Divator (standard pressure) with no problems and use a Thompson swtich block when diving with twins, so that either post on the cylinders can be used without removing the mask. I haven't found a way yet to plumb in a deco gas that I feel happy with. The only quick release coupling I can find would only work on the hose that feeds from the switch block with the nipple on the deco cylinder's first stage, so that in the event of the hose failing (or the coupling itself) I would have no way to isolate the loss of gas. The switch block only has the two inlets and so the deco gas would have to go in a non-isolated inlet. I'm not really happy with that. I've also got a Kirby Morgan Exo 26 - we call it "The Beast" - nice breathe but very heavy and doesn't fit my face at all. The Divator has by for the most comfortable fit and great breathe too - I use it as much as I can when pleasure diving and all through the summer, problems above notwithstanding.

Does your switch block actually have a switch or is it just a manifold? I contacted APD about their QR hoses. They sent me a PDF file - I think the QR hoses are on page 5. Oops - the file is too big. If you are interested then PM your email address and I'll send it to you (or you can get it direct from APD).

No, I have only used the detector on the beach a couple of times and it seemed to work fine there - it certainly detects metal. I haven't been able to go diving since I bought the thing. I did stick the end of it in some rock pools (and the metal detctor) but it has not been completely immersed yet. SWMBO started bitching about me scratching the bath so ........... I am planning an Eastbourne Marina checkout dive (trim/buoyancy) with my new wing so I will probably try it out in the harbour as A) there is probably loads of metal crap in the silt and B) why not? Rgds Bryan

My switch block has two switched inlets (from the two posts on the twinset) and another two which are unswitched - hence the deco gas is only isolated by the deco gas cylinder's valve. If the hose between deco cylinder and block splits or the coupling goes, then there is no way to isolate it. If you could e-mail me that list, that would be great. I have PM'd the address to send it to. Cheers Nick

| Cheers Bryan for the APD list. It's actually very helpful, as I may be able to fit the female connector to the block and then have the male connection on the hose which routes to the first stage on the deco bottle. Will investigate and report back.

I think I have a link somewhere .......... rummage rummage ........ try http://www.oceanreefgroup.com/system_.htm - the gas switch is shown about 1/3 the way down the page (it's a very long page) and is attached to the mask (I have mine "hip mounted"). That is actually the old switch which has been replaced with an all metal casing version.
