| From what I can see the S/Pro Jetfins tend to be heavier than "style" jetfins. The weight means you don't tend to need ankle weights with them. I think that's why they are popular (must have) with DIR divers. I have UD Divers Compro which are "style" jetfins quite rigid but very light. I was always happy with them until I bought some Avanti Quatros. They were very good. I have just received a pair of S/Pro Jetfins and can't wait to try them out. |

| The Ndiver ones are the set I got new a few seasons ago. I used to use Mares Quattros (working as a dive guide you are standard issued with a pair, and they may never leave your feet) but fuond the jetfins suited to my frog kick better. For what it's worth, Scubapro jetfins are made of rubber. If you find another fin which is made of rubber and is the same size and shape then it is going to be virtually identical. Jet-style-fins I have never quite understood. They either are or they aren't. For me a jetfin is a rubber one piece fin with vents in roughly the same place. I see plastic crap fins being marketed as jet-style-fins, which actually are nothing like jetfins. They are a rubber foot pocket and big floppy sheet of plastic, which will never get you where you're going or let you manouvre. So, in all, I'd go for the NDiver, Beaver, SAP, Divex or similar. Save your cash. Oh, and jets are virtually indestructible, so getting a pair secondhand off ebay you'll get on fine, just make sure there is no perishing. Mine have done at least 2 seasons and are showing slight scratches, and will carry on for at least 5 more seasons. You can see it in them. |
