Jet Fins V jet fin style fins

Heya,

has anyone noticed a difference between them?

I was going to pick up a new pair of jet fin style fins which I have used before and quite liked.

I have also been offered a new scubapro jet fin for 60 quid, the dude had a few at the back of his store.

so just wondering, i doubt there will be much difference between them but was wondering whether it will be worth the extra 45 or so for a scubapro one.

i would rather spend the money on dives, if there is negligible difference.

Well I've just bought a pair of Scubapro jetfins after my ND jetfins started to split on the edge of the foot pocket (Incidently some of the cheaper ones have a reinforced ridge like the Scubapro ones so don't suffer the same problem - Beaver for example).

The scubapro fins are better without a doubt IMHO. Are they worth the premium over £40 jetfins? Nahh....

Hi Applepie

FWIW - I bought some very cheap 'jet fins' on E-bay & they looked okay and and were okay(ish) in the water. But, they were very light and very flexible, so as my frog-kick progressed, my fins were less good.

Bought some real jetfins, with spring-straps at UE and they are much, much better fins. Floaty feet syndrome has disappeared and kicks are more powerful. The cheapies are now relagated to the pool.

Are the scubapro worth it - in my opinion - yes.

Hope this helps

Dianne

I've been using my SAP jetfins for about 5 or 6 years, they're brill. I've never used Scubapro's but I haven't noticed that I have any problem doing what anyone else can with them. And at a whopping £35 they were a bargain

I had divex jetfins for a few years and thought they were fine, when I tried a pair of scubapro jetfins, they felt a lot stiffer and more powerful, and generally a whole lot better with a dry suit.
I reckon they were worth the money for me.

Incedently, I don't think they are good with a wetsuit, the weight of them was enough to throw my comfortable horizontal trim out, and they take a fair chunk out of your baggage allowance!

Cheers, Malcolm.

There are different colour of Scubapro Jetfins. I have the blue ones which are slightly positively buoyant. I find them great with dry or wetsuit.

Or try Turtle fins, I found them better than Scubapros. Or you could buy my old pair of ND Jet fins which you can have for £15 plus postage

What about Aqualung jet fins - are they the same as Scubapro with a different badge?
