| Delrin vs Steel Spools? hi all I've been using a dive rite 100ft finger spool, but the center hole is too small for my fingers when using 5mm gloves found on deepseasupply web site, a Stainless Steel Spool... the shape of the spoll seems very nice, but is SS worth considering on a spool? http://www.deepseasupply.com/page20.html cheers Nuno |

| What happens if you drop either of them under water?

| I have one of Tobins SS Spools and it truly is a thing of beauty - oh and they both would sink.

| markw, I dont use my spool like your dive buddys, I use my fingers as an axle for the spool, I've try the "spin the spool on my hand" just for fun, I really dont think that's the best way do work the spool (but thats just me) I also do not use the double-ender when winding the line. I have new gloves (pinnacle 5mm karbonflex) that are a bit more thick and stiff, than my old gloves, and I've notice that my spool does not spin so freely as before dive safe Nuno hope you understand my poor english... (Portuguese grettings to you all) |

An alternative which I've heard of, but never seen, is to just grip the holes in the spindle with two fingers, like thumb and 3rd finger. You don't put the fingers in the hole, but just loosely hold the reel using the center spindle holes. That way, it can spin freely when you're deploying as well, but you have a positive hold on it. Hope this helps
