Hi Scuby...you don't use it...just wear it. Its a posy bit of kit, just like the Custom Divers valve protector. Nice and shiney...hey look, hardened wreck diver.

I agree - £5 lump hammer from B&Q with a d-ring attached, then things like the cold chisel and crow bars get stowed in the snoopy loops on your bailout/lifting gas. Aaah oh yes, I forgot Blan's carrying that isn't she?!

I considered making a tool-roll that I could clip off under my unit then deploy like a surgeon, with all my tools to hand!
"Lump hammer........ pry-bar........ oh, dab my brow please nurse...."

sorry to disagree with people here but in my experience i have found that a lump hammer is of quite a limited use on a dive and not that effective,

the new tool of choice for us is definitley a set of large bolt croppers it is amazing when you see them in action of how they can shear through brass bolts and using this method i saw a lot of clearance quickly and effectivley more so than with an hammer and chisel the only thing you really need to watch is the entanglement hazard!!

That's a good thought, I also bet that the exertion is a lot less with a set of croppers than swinging aroung on a big hammer. Good for telegraph chains too of course!

How easy do you find it to get them in behind the head or the nut, and crop through the bolt shaft?

well i was thinking specifically of big spidge like shafts on helms or the bolts on telegraphs if they can get through bolts on telegraphs i dont see why it cant be done on portholes i witnessed a clearout of 4 large chadburns double headers from one bridge using the snip method at some depth as well sawing or banging at this depth would have led to certain breakthrough as n lad who was trying to shake a pedestal off had co2 symptoms until the clippers came out

Hammers & bars??!

We're in the new millennium - shouldn't semtex or C4 be the weapon of choice?? A burning set is always handy, no need to lay a line - just cut yourself a route!

Alternatively instead of bashing bits off we could leave it alone for others to enjoy...........................................am I about to be red blobbed??!

If they're deep enough or far enough out, your not going to get the average (even average tekkie) diver looking at them anyway. The wreck will just degrade away anyway over time but at least some stuff will be saved this way.

Says he without brass

Can I have one that...

...chisells Twinsetmad out of his duvet for a dive on a cold March Wednesday after dark?

Something in the 14 lb range should do it!

TSM, I want a note from your Mum-and the bad news is I'm joining the club after the AGM!!
