Self Inflating DSMB's Worth while?

Hi,
I need to get a new DSMB as i'm still using and open ended one with a 1kg weight block attached at the bottom.
I was thinking about going for a Buddy DSMBCI with the mini cylinder or maybe one with a CO2 cartridge. Do these save hassle or are they over complicated?
Should i just go for a self sealing type and continue to fill from my AAS.
Thanks
Ian

Thumbs up No contest !

IMHO the only answer is the self inflating type .Used it when I had single 15 ,then with twins, now with ybod wouldn't go back to another type unless it's a CO2 type as a back up smb .Only thing to work out is between A clamp or Din version .Just top it up from your main cylinder for each dive .(If you've got a nice LDS with twins take it in attached to one of them fill through the other )

AP SMBCi is bloody great to use but bulky and needs fiddling with a bit as the handbag strap is annoying.

Buy a DIN version. It's more compact

But not if you're getting a Nitrox fill as those little bottles aren't typically O2 clean.

Janos,
Wouldn't they be ok up to 40% ??
Ian

** EDIT ** Oh i see in colins message about having the mini cyclinder attached to a twin set when he has a fill it would come into contact with pure O2.
Just me being slow monday moring and all that!

I switched from a self-sealing type to a Buddy DSMBi last year and found it an excellent investment. Faster to deploy, easier to use and reduces the risk of a free-flow with your AAS.

Exactly what I would have said!

There are so many problems that can arise from deploying an SMB it makes sense to make it as easy as possible. The best value £80 you will ever spend on diving kit.

Just don't forget to fill the bottle!
