| Many moons ago when I used to do divemastering I took a complete spare set of kit on trips. Rather than trying to repair it is often a lot easier to simply replace. It doesn't have to be the same spec as the original, just enough to get you in the water. I find repairs are easier in the dry, on solid land with a bottle of wine than on a pitching boat, in the wet with either blazing sun or freezing gale. Most of us have enough upgraded/fettled/redundant kit to do it and it isn't that bulky if you are sensible (eg. a backplate is not likely to break). It can be contained in something of similar size to some people's spares kits.
