| Actually, mine is set up in a similar break away manner too, but a more experienced bod said to me 'why don't you do it this way', and it seemed like a good idea at the time. I can see your point however, and to a great extent agree with you, although I'd have thought a panicked diver would be far more likely to have ripped the reg out of your gob.

| Remember to melt the ends of the knot with a lighter , stops it fraying and working loose. Just a thought

...with some bungee the elastic may burn rather than melt. For the yellow rubber necklaces, they float if you reg comes out of them, so I filled mine with lead shot. For this you need Hellerman pliers [also called virgin pliers, if you know the tool I mean, you know why] a small funnel, washing up liquid and 10 min. Works a treat, and catches people out when you hit them with it and they think it will be a gentle tap. All those posting on the 'Am I the coolest diver or what?' thread be warned... |

| I have a velcro easy snap link (V-shaped) on my 2nd stage which is bungee'd around my neck. That way, it doesn't matter which DV a buddy grabs in an OOA situation (not that I have ever had this happen in over 40 years of diving). I also use the same type of velcro link on my DSMB. It is strong eoung to hold the reel if I drop it but if the reel jammed, it would not be strong enough to pull me up. |

| How about a glance at AKs site. http://www.gasdiving.co.uk/pages/misc/kit/hoses.htm And if you want a premade necklace then get in touch with Brian at Aquanauts as he stocks Halcyon ones which are neat.
