| Fins I will be buyig fins in the near future. Being a complete noob (and still callng them flippers on occasions ), what are the things i should consider before i choose? I like the split fins (only because they look cool!)Where should i get them from (was going to look at ebay)? What size should i go for (normally 10 - 11 UK shoe)? What style should i get? strap/full foot/full fin/split fins? |

| Hi Paul If you belong to a club try and borrow as many different styles and see which suits you.

So, do try different types before buying. If you can, try these: - Mares Avanti Quattro - Scubapro Jetfins - Any Split Fins that you fancy Not because these are the only ones any good, but they give you an idea of the sort of main styles out there and the first two are fairly common. Once you get an idea of the style you like, you can try different fins that are in that 'group'. Find something that you are comfortable in and can move well in. Fins are a rather important part of your kit. Try removing yours in the water and see how well you swim! (Err, if you aren't that confident in the water - don't try that trick, you can just take my word for it - you will be like a stranded whale in mid water). .

| You should buy Mares Avanti Quattros 'cos they are the best and "the choice of the professional". 50 million dive guides can't be wrong PS you will be needing XL for your big feet
