Droopy Ankle Weights

Evening All!

This is not a trolling exercise and I'm not really looking for a "take them off" answer!

I've decided to use ankle weights with my dry suit. I will "probably" ditch them as my confidence builds. I forgot them for my stoney dive and altho I didn't go feet up apparently I swam in a very upright position perhaps compensating becuase I knew I'd forgotten them!

Anyway,

When I put my ankle weights on I pull them really tight but my boots are kind of stright so over the course of walking to the boat or during the dive they slip down at the back. I'm wondering if at some point they could actually slip over my heel and fall off.

So anyone got a good idea for solving my droopy ankle weights!

K XX

PS Various configurations with fin straps are being tried but I'd rather lose and ankle weight than a fin!

Hi Kath,

unless your legs are totally straight then why not make sure that the ankle weight is above the ankle joint but below the calf?

Fortunatly my suit has them integrated... but before that, I just made sure that they were high enough.....

HTH,
Neil

Braces...
Just kidding!
Don't have them too high up the leg.
Put them on just before you put your flippers on..

Put them on before your suit. Being on the inside of your drybag usually eliminates loss.

Even if they slide off your ankles it is extremely unlikely that they will slide of your fins!

Fortunately it seems only your ankle weights are droopy!

bit late

aye up,

Just wet them before you put them on, pull em tight and you should be ok. If you put them on dry, the straps tend to expand a bit and then they slip down.
