Question replacing a compass in a console

The compass in my console has flooded (Suunto SK7) can I just buy a wrist one and get it out of that mounting and into the console, if so, how?

Yes you can - I certainly got mine out of the original wristwatch type boot and put it in the boot that Niknaks sells. Must have the instructions somewhere. PM me if you want me to have a look. Can't help on the getting it into the console though but I imagine it's brute force and ignorance really

Perhaps someone else will come along with a more helpful answer

Yeah should be able to. However, if you ask in a shop chances are you can get one without the boot - might save you a £ if you ask.

However, the same happened to my Oceanic console. Oceanic actually replaced the compass free of charge, however it made me decide to get rid of the console and I now have the compass fitted to a boltsnap and hanging off a d-ring out of the way, but more importantly where it won't get damaged so easily. Might be worth a thought - depends how you broke it really and if its likely to happen again?

Leave it to soak in warm water, will make it easy to remove
