Advice on Marine Radio needed

Hi Folks,
Having drowned our current marine VHF we're looking to buy a new one to mount on a RIB console (open to spray and the odd wave...) Any recommendations on suitable radios (or ones to avoid) much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for all advice.
Ariel

Icom.

We bought ours when DSC was in its infancy, so ended up with a separate DSC unit and VHF, but I think now I would buy IC-M421.

They are at the upper end of the price scale, but in the rare occasion you really NEED a radio, the extra few quid will seem like money well spent.

However, do keep an eye on the state of the aerial connections. Our boat was originally supplied without the plug at the aerial connection soldered, which quickly corroded and rendered the radio useless.

Now we borrow a SWR meter at the start of each season and check the aerials are still good, and cut away and reterminate any of the co-ax which has become corroded.
