Good advice, thanks, and I think I have some fish tank tubing in the shed.

So if you have a ring on the drysuit and dry gloves without a ring should you pull the latex of the glove wrist (has thick ring rim on end) over the dry suit hard ring and secure further with a large rubber ring?

You haven't told us which ring system you have. I have the Viking bayonet glove system, which I think is best (easiest to don and remove gloves and 100% reliable). I still have the wrist seals on my suit and wear the wrist sweat-bands tennis-players wear under my wrist seals and just pull a small piece out under the seal to allow equalisation. I got this tip from a diveshop owner who has been diving for 30 years and it works fine, much better than plastic tubing in my opinion.

Eh?

Your drysuit has rings, but your gloves don't? They should both match, the suit rings should have a matching counterpart on the dry glove that just clips on, shoudn't be doing anything with latex and o-rings just to put the gloves on...? Think we need a picture or a better description or something, but it doesn't sound right to me!

Polar Bears drysuit with 'built in' cuff rings :-

http://store.polarbears.co.uk/produc...roducts_id=162

scroll down to pic of cuff rings, click and that's what I've got.

As for the gloves, purchased from Polar Bears :-

http://store.polarbears.co.uk/produc...products_id=39

My understanding was that the gloves fitted without another ring (so not clicking together like astronuaght type as the dry suit ring doesn't have that facility) just pulled over the cuff ring retaining the drysuit wrist seal for double protection.

It all made perfect sense when I bought them but now I'm a bit confused, especially since it leaked. All assistance gratefully received

Ahhhh, all makes sense now!

I've never seen that type though, so can't even begin to imagine why they might leak. Sorry

Because the latex glove seal has a big, thick O ring type end I just pulled it over the cuff. I suspect I should perhaps use another large O ring seal on top of the glove latex, although I'm not sure how difficult that will be puting on the 2nd glove.

I'll just have to try it out again at the local inland site I guess, unless anyone else has the Polar Bears built in cuff ring and has used dry gloves with it

Interesting link John, thanks

The tennis player wrist bands to which you are referring, are they the sort of toweling ones? I can't quite imagine how they allow much air exchange but I'll definitely give that a go. The bit of bungee was quite uncomfortable.

I think you'll find that you use either the cuff seal OR the glove not both .Can be alkward getting the rest of the kit on but I have seen 2 different people with this & they managed very well .

As in lose the wrist latex seal and attach the glove over the ring as you would the wrist seal ?
I had considered that and concluded that they gloves would need to be pre-attached and I wondered how I'll do anything with my hands then. Another thing to try.

It does, of course, mean that if the glove should become split or torn the water's straight into the suit. Also, don't you end up with a lot of air in the gloves on ascent?
