Slates and Tape?

I've heard people say they put tape on their slate then write on that, so when there done they just pull the tape off no scrubbing to get all the pencil off.
What sort of tape is it?? (Would masking Tape do?)
Do you still use a pencil or is it some type of pen?

For writing dive plans on, we use duct tape and permanent marker pen. It is nice and clear then, and as you say, can be ripped off after use - no scrubbing at pencil marks.

White gaffer tape and a CD marker pen does the job.

Don't supose you can write on it underwater can you?

That's what preprepared cut backup tables are for, when it all goes Pete Tong! Alternatively you could use wetnotes instead of a slate, that way you can write on them underwater, or get a VR£.

I do carry some but its the Silvery Grey stuff not White.
