| Which Compass Hi guys. Now, let me preface this with I'm no master navigator, but want a wrist mounted compass as my console's hose simply isn't long enough. I know I could get the hose extended but the compass is pretty pants and needs to be held almost perfectly level to be any use. So, with that in mind, what wrist mouted compass do others use/recommend...?

| Suunto SK-7 is a good one. Allows a fair degree of tilt. You can also get a low-profile mount from NikNaks.

| Hi Lazlo I like the SK-7. Thanks for the post. Do you know if it can be attached to a lanyard or retractable thingy maybe...?

Hope that's clear - it's a bit difficult to describe without a picture.

The amount that you actually use a compass in the UK is limited. What I use is an oil filled Hiking compass (Funnily enough Suunto do one) Its flat so slips neatly in to a pocket so less clutter I keep mine with my wetnotes so if its low vis I can put it on the white background, you can hold it in frount and below you to enable you to keep it level and true, my first compasss lasted 20 years max depth of about 70m the bevel spring finally rusted out and the replacement cost £8.99 and has been to 60m so depth isn't an issue. Also Its easier to use on the surface. Couple of things you need to check though Firstly no air bubbles in the oil some do have them. Also find one that is simple and clearly marked. Jamie

Erm, one drawback with that - the abbreviation is 'CLITORIS'." |

| A very good point. Here's what George Irvine's wetnotes look like on the WKPP push dives... http://www.wkpp.org/images/pina_equip/wet_notes_r.jpeg
