Really dumb weightbelt question
OK, so myself and Spacehopper were in the shop at Stoney yesterday, and I was idly looking at weight belts, and thinking which ones would be better than my current one, and I picked one particular one up.

It was a Hydrotech belt, in that vaugely figure 8 shape. So far so good. But for love nor money could either of us figure out how you put the weight into it. No velcro pockets anywhere, it seemed 100% stitched up.

Now am I being thick here, or would there be a product that looks like a weight belt with two D rings hanging off the borrom of it that does something else ?

It's a softbelt. You take off the weight retainer at either end and pour in lead shot. Then you put it back on.

Some have different opening mechanisms, but that was what you were looking at. I'm sure of it.

At the end by the buckle strap area ? That was the only possibility that I could think of...

Could well be. The ones I used to use had a weight retainer at either end of the fabric bit, and you could take these back a bit to open it.

Did you ask the guys in the shop? They're usually pretty helpful at Stoney.

No, as we definitely weren't buying anything and they were pretty busy at the time, so I thought I'd just bug everyone on YD instead

Sounds just like the one languishing in the bottom of my kit box - have a look next we're at Stoney and make me a laughably small offer and you can have it. No shot in it at the moment though so you would need to get some from somewhere....

I have 12 Kg of shot in my current weightbelt, just in nice small pouches...

Talking of when we next dive, when are we ? Are you able to get a day off and come and play on Thursday at the Stoney meet ?

As you know I have no problems getting a day off - I've got loads of days off at the moment

However, I'm on my way up to Scapa Thursday/Friday so I'll have to give Stoney a miss for a couple of weeks. Next night dive session 19th July perhaps....

Hi Mal, it was good to meet you too. Looking at the link, if it wasn't that one, it was very similar. The one I was looking at didn't have the plastic rectangle clips by the material edge on the webbing. Oh and they were blue LOL
