My lump of stainless isn't quite as big as a CD, but...

I have it on a crack bottle DSMB, which rolls up big to start with. The bungie is long enough so that I can roll the material as normal with the metal bit out the side. Then when it am down to the crack bottle, the metal bit goes in and sits on top of the roll and bottle. The final wrap covers it up, and no bulk has been added to the final product.

But it works for me as I have one of the crack bottle ones that is big to start with.

You're probably talking of IDMYGEAR (check my sig for a link to their website)....you have to make sure the surface is clean and dry....and leave it for 72 hours to dry....it's pretty good on non flexible surfaces but I would be surprised if it held on a tightly rolled dSMB,

I thought the same, but it's rubbish!

Jetfins - came off in 5 minutes

DSS Mounts - 5 seconds! I left my name on Aquanaut

It worked well on my Salvo charger!

If you find it becomes too top heavy after attaching a large peice of shiny stainless, then at least you can give Steven a use for his 65 KG lift bag assisting your DSMB to the surface.

Regards
Mark

NB. I thought your preference was for leaving bits of shiny stainless attached to wrecks, not sending them to the surface.............

Nah, it's a wee thin light thing. Here you go, the bit of stainless and the rolling up process...

I don't know if this is the same make, but it is the same sort of thing:
eBay.co.uk: Army Survival & Signal Mirror Unbreakable SAS Camping L (item 220037495936 end time 23-Oct-06 23:15:24 BST)
But, I did put some gaffer tape around the edge to stop any accidents with edges of metal.

I'd have thought you practrical type people could modify the cd . . . . like make it rectangle, doubt if you'd want to play it again!!!

or you could paint half the cd on both sides, a couple of cds different colours for instance 1 orange and the other yellow
and tell the boat cover if the orange one comes up its attached to the wreck so don't hang about waiting for us to come up
but look for the dsmb with the yellow cd thats drifting away very fast with no-one looking at it!!!!!!

cheers Steven

Out of interest, have any skippers said that they have picked you out on radar, would of thought that the target was to small to give a return signal that would stand out from the rest of the backscatter on the screen.

No to be honest, then again I am usually in a RIB.

But I try and do as much as possible to be seen as there is a history of too many divers getting caught in the current in Strangford Lough and getting carried away. It's fine if you get carried into the lough as you can make it back to land, but if the current if flowing the other way...

I also carry a folding yellow flag for the same reason.

So, would the thing really help in a real situation? I dunno, but it cost very little, it isn't a hinderance and it can't hurt. Oh yeh, you also know for sure who's SMB it is when a half dozen buddy SMBs are lying in the RIB during diver pick up time.
