Problems with fitting spring straps

Amongst loads of new bits I've received from Diving Niknaks (great service by the way) were some spring straps to fit to mine and Nicola's fins.

The problem I am having is probably particular to fitting them on Scubapro Twin-Jet fins. Basically the longest springs available aren't long enough if I remove the entire existing fin clip assembly and the shortest ones aren't short enough if I mod them to fit the existing quick release fitting instead.

Has anyone got any tips or had a similar problem with Twin-Jets or the same fittings on other Scubapro fins?

We've both got fairly UK standard mens and ladies size feet (8/9 and 5 respectively) so odd size plates of meat aren't the problem !!

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

Graham

I they're too short you'll get foot ache, chuck em in the bin, return em or ebay em & buy some cheapo Beaver Springs, don't normally advocate Beaver stuff but they work a treat & they do em in all sizes.

If you use the original fin clips, you can shorten them (the straps) quite easily.

I have the clips on my holiday fins, but went for direct attachment on my UK ones (turtles).

I'm not saying a word... except that the Beaver straps don't fit Twinjets very well as the mounting post it too far from the heel.

Yes, I shortened a pair by cutting off a few coils and then bending the last two coils up to make the attachment loop.

I also (as this was standard on the Farralon/Oceanics which most of these are base on) thread cave/smb line in the springs to stop them being over-stretched.

I have two sets, and they are indeed luvverly. And they are made with proper Stainless Steel, which is better than the cutlery grade that Beaver uses.

For Woz, making diving kit is a labour of love [1] rather than a business.

Not being rude to the ol man, Woz, but they only fit perfectly because you make them yourself! If you make a crap job of making htem then they fit..erm...crap Woz sells kits to make straps, not actual straps all ready to go.

Mine, of course, fit perfectly as I made them very well
