Top boltsnap goes to a d-ring around your left nipple/shoulderblade.
Bottom boltsnap goes to a d-ring on the left of your waist-band.

Those instructions are for a harness with d-rings in relevant positions - you will probably have to adjust a bit depending on how your BCD is laid out, where there are d-rings etc. A bit of improvisation and modification may be needed; the thing to aim for is to have the pony bottle tucked out of the way in the space (sort of) between your left arm and body.

Tom, mine was on my right side, why do you advocate left side?

Matt

less clutter/potential entanglement with reg hoses etc, assuming your hoses are on the right.

The only picture I can find is of mine set up badly, so that wouldn't be much use to you! What BCD do you use? Is there a picture of one somewhere on the web that shows where it has d-rings etc?

Because you are a weirdo and do it wrong

Mine was left too....makes it easier to handle right-handed was probably why I did it that way naturally. Now I have a long hose it means I can deply it if I wear a deco cylinder on the left.

Yes, you are right, although, in my defense that was a reply to Matt, not to the OP.

With a pony on a recreational rig it matters not a jot if it is right or left mounted. I just happened to find it more comfy and natural to have it on the left. It meant that when I reached over to grab the reg or us the valve I was doing it with my dominant (right) hand.

...as long as it doesn't foul your 'octopus' hose - you need to make sure the pony doesn't trap it against your body, so it can still be easily donated. My suggestion for LHS was based on the fact that most (though not all) people I see have the octopus hose on their right.

Hi Tom, My bcd is a scubapro glide 2000, currently on it's way back to them for a warranty repair. The plastic o-ring at the bottom of the shoulder strap snapped when lifted onto my back on a rib. Thank heavens for cable ties. Oops, sorry, irrelevant rant!
