| Hi I've reached the stage of replacing all my kit in stages, i'm now up to the fins, i had oceonic V drive which i liked but now won't fit my new dry suit boots, i bought some cressi frog cause i needed a pair quickly and i hate them, i find them hard work. I've tryed the Tusa xpert zoom splits but also had the mares volo power fins recommended. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to either or what do any of you recommend to someone with one weak leg (honest) i don't want to go round in circles Thanks for your help in advance |

| I bought a pair of the Volo Powers a couple of months ago and have been really pleased with them, I don't go a great deal faster than with my Cressi Spacefrogs but it's way less effort and have never looked like cramping in the calves. When you first use them, it actually feels like there's nothing on your feet, a bit weird at first. I don't know about the TUSAs so no comment but I DO know that the Royal Australian Navy Clearance Divers now use the Volos, so they must be ok. One benefit I've found with them is that they are by far the best fins I've had for use on the surface, such as swimming back to shore or returning to a boat that won't/can't come to me. This is because the design is still very efficient even for a half kick. They are great for frog kicking too - not sure how the splits are for this. Also I've found that my air consumption has fallen quite markedly. I know the older, original Volos had a reputation for delaminating, failing at the outer spine and generally poor performance but it would appear that this has now been sorted with the Volo Powers. Correct storage is very important though, I'm very careful to lay mine dead flat. I removed the ABS fin straps and replaced em with bungees though. Nothing against the ABS per se, I just don't trust rubber flat straps/plastic buckles and I find the bungees heaps easier to fit/remove and they are $3 a pair and easily replaced when at sea. |
