| Can't you remove the bead? Mine has a small nut to help with handling it and a large loop. |

| Don't think removing the bead is that easy unfortunately. I like the Mcmahon as it goes in my d/s pocket attached to the smb, so it doesn't dangle. I hate danglies. I'd be tempted to change to a kent tooloing one, but they are a bit big to go in the pocket.

| Is the bead attached to the line? If so cut it off, make a loop in the line and then you can ues it to attach to your SMB or use it for laying line, either way by passing the reel through the loop. There is no need at all to use clips on reels. |

| no, the 'bead' is part of the reel. It acts as a line guide, and slides in a slot in the plastic part of the line guide. I guess I could try and pop it out of the plastic slot, but I'm not sure if that would be sensible. must have a closer look.
