DPV: Are they annoying.
Hi

Have recently purchased cheap seadoo sea scooter. I like it and it pulls me through the water even with full kit.. However It seems that the noise from the motor could possibly annoy other divers in the area.... I was thinking about taking it to scapa next year. Would this annoy or put off divers as the sound apparently travels along way.. Thanks

Nah - they're fantastic fun!

If you like the SeaDoo, you should try something like a Gavin or a Silent Submersion - even the dullest quarry dive will still put a massive Cheshire Cat-style smile on your face! I looooooooove my Gavin...

Yeh.. I used it recently at weymouth for the first time. I was laughing so much that my mask flooded. Loads of fun. However a little more speed wouldnt go amiss.

yes they are anoying if they are close by .... but so long as you dont buzz other divers in the water .... its fine ....we have two scooters onboard for hire and have heard nothing but good reports about them

I now know how not to have John as a buddy ,I bring my scubapro scooter to Scapa as well .We can let John & Paul buddy & then see if we can herd them around the wreck between us !

Divers in the water with them aren't annoying, divers on boats are annoying with them. Let's all spend an extra half an hour at the end of each dive getting 2 scooters out the water, take up an extra diver's worth of deck space and then whinge about how cramped the boat is... On a par with photographers...

OK, it was St Andrew's Night last night and I'm feeling somewhat sensitive this morning...

I agree they are great fun and even nosier in a cave, with practise you can tell some types of scooter by the prop noise. The Formula one of scooters the Aquazep has a very distinctive noise.
