Red face Turtle fins

I've got a brand new pair of Turtle fins with Halcyon XL spring straps. The problem is that, although the straps hold the fins onto my size 12's there seems to be a lot of "sideways" play when my foot is in the pocket.

Questions:
Does anyone else with size 12 neo drysuit boots use this config? If so, do you have the same problem?

Does anyone else use these fins with the L sized straps? If so, what size feet do you have?

Are the Turtle fins meant for use with rockboots, and is that my problem?

Lastly, does it matter that there is some play in the fitting? I've done a bit of finning in them and they don't fall off, although there didn't seem to be much stretching of the spring required when putting them on.

Views would be appreciated.

Thanks

Martin

XL straps sound huge. I use Turtles with Halcyon Medium straps on my size 10.5 - 11 feet. I would think XL would be huge - even with size 12 feet? There's always a bit of sideways play with Turtles - it not ideal - but it doesn't create any problems. You always need smaller straps with Turtles than you think because the pocket is so huge on the fin. Halcyon springstraps are primarily designed to work with Jetfins which have a much smaller pocket and need a longer strap. Rock boots and wetsuit boots are normally snug in turtles - you only tend to get the play with smaller drysuit boots and turbosoles. You've got the right fins (assuming you want a jetstyle fin) - nothing else would fit you with size 12's. HTH

Maybe the foot pocket of your fins is too big? My fins have stayed on my feet in the past when the fin strap has come off ......... and no, my feet don't feel at all cramped ......

Maybe you could pack out the spaces in the foot pocket with tissue or bog paper?

Your strap size does sound big ......... I wish we were discussing girls here! Do you have any adjustable fin straps that you can put on and pull tight to see if that alleviates the problem.

I have never suffered this problem but I would say it is veryimportant. You will be using your energy less efficiently (potential waste of gas and loss of effectiveness in a current?) and maybe could cause yourself blisters or sores if diving/finning a lot/regularly?
