| Our workbenches consists of my old kitchen units (and those of the previous houseowner). Not 'pretty' but very practical, and definitely stable. (And free.

| Bought one exactly like that from Wickes last year - not sure if they still do them but it was cheap and seriously heavy duty.

| Seriously Juz, all the wood you need to make a bench is available down your local timber merchant or even B and Q, it'll take you half a day max and save you about 300 quid, mine is still going strong after nearly 20 years |

| Handy Hint: get some steel and cover the top of the bench with it. Makes it last much longer. And see if you can get an engineers vice too to bolt to it- very handy. If the whole of your workbench top is steel, you can also put anything on it and immediately start welding without haveing to connect the welding clamp directly to the workpiece. If you do any welding that is. If you want a cheap strong bench then, and it pains me to say this, Ikea do some really cheap really strong ones. Ivar, I think they are called. I am now off to kill myself.
